Kathleen Hill – biography
A native of the U.K., I have been an artist, designer, photographer, and seamstress for many decades, a creative distraction from a career in Radiation Oncology and marketing. I recently relocated to the Central Coast from the Bay Area, where my creativity has focused on Doll Art and Photography, the latter being originally influenced by my Father’s passion in the 1960’s. Inspired by world travel, the images have evolved into landscape, people, flora and fauna of the world around us. My photographs have been juried into several Central Coast venues, available on a variety of surfaces, and as note cards, jewelry pendants, or gift items.
Doll Art began in 1988, with reproduction porcelain dolls. My line of originally sculpted porcelains debuted in 1992, exhibiting at New York Toy Fair, IDEX, etc., which over the years garnered several awards, including Best of Show (original/professional, 1997) at the San Francisco Bay Doll Art show. Additionally, I designed porcelain prototypes for a mass production doll company. My latest creations are one-of-a-kind vinyl lady repaints, beginning with a blank canvas & evolving into a unique character, using top quality materials in all aspects of the design.
